The Guardian yields to an invading alien force known as the Swarm and sacrifices himself for the sake of others. This includes a group of students on a field trip as part of a behavioral rehabilitation program. At the moment of the Guardian’s death, chaos erupts, and the youth find themselves trapped in a crumbling museum. Mysteriously, some of the youth begin to display the same incredible abilities the Guardian once wielded and emit a similar power signature. While some students have already been evacuated, others are hunted by the Swarm. In the final issue of this story arc, these youths and some adult helpers try to discover if the Guardian had a plan all along. They desperately seek to avoid capture while also attempting to reunite with some of their friends, whose new powers are dangerously out of control and could lead to disaster if not helped.
