Crafting Comics is a hands-on introduction to comics and sequential art production. Students will learn how to: develop storylines; write scripts; develop characters; draw characters panels and backgrounds; prepare comic books for print production; and practice the basics of sequential language, composition and layout. We will also engage with the crucial personal and political issues at stake across a range of comics genres, from the superhero, to the autobiographical, to the genre-transcending and countercultural. This course will help students understand not just how we create comics, but also why we create comics. No drawing or design experience required
